The Russian embassy in Bangladesh confirmed to TASS on February 15 that a decision was made to ban 69 Russian vessels from entering the republic’s ports, however, the move does not affect Russian imports to the country, Report informs.
"In January 2023, the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh submitted to the country’s competent authorities a list of 69 Russian vessels banned from entering national seaports in line with US unilateral sanctions," the embassy specified.
According to the embassy, the decision does not mean that imports will be stopped, as specific ships only are targeted. Also, seaborne supplies of Russian wheat are still being delivered.
Work under the project to build the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Bangladesh is running according to plan, with all necessary equipment being supplied, the embassy added.
