Romania introduces new measures against coronavirus spread

New restrictive measures against the spread of the new coronavirus came into effect in Romania on Sunday amid an increase in COVID-19 incidence, Report informs, citing TASS.

According to the Agerpres agency, in settlements where the incidence for 14 days exceeds four cases per 1,000 inhabitants, a curfew is introduced on weekends from 08:00 pm instead of 10:00 pm earlier. The exception is the movement of residents for professional purposes to receive medical care, purchase medicines, help sick or elderly people. In these cases, to go outside after 08.00 pm, residents need to have a completed application for presentation at the request of a police representative.

Stores in settlements with an incidence of more than four cases per 1,000 inhabitants will now close at 06.00 pm instead of 09.00 pm, except for pharmacies, gas stations, and shops with home delivery. Gyms are also closed.

If the incidence exceeds 7.5 cases per 1,000 inhabitants, these restrictions will also apply on weekdays. The measures were slated to take effect on Friday, but Prime Minister Florin Cîțu decided to give shop and restaurant owners time to prepare.
