Putin names condition for ending hostilities in Ukraine

Russia agrees with the proposal to cease hostilities in Ukraine, but this should lead to long-term peace, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, Report informs.

"We agree with the proposals to cease hostilities, but we proceed from the fact that this cessation should be such that would lead to long-term peace and eliminate the original causes of this crisis," Putin said at a press conference following the Russian-Belarusian high-level negotiations.

He considers the idea of a ceasefire in Ukraine to be correct, but says "there are issues that need to be discussed."

At the same time, Putin questioned what would happen along the entire 2,000 km line of combat engagement, where Russian troops are conducting widespread offensive operations, in the event of a ceasefire.
