Putin and Kim Jong-un to meet in North Korea after 24 years

President Vladimir Putin of Russia will embark on a state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from June 18-19, 2024, as confirmed by the Kremlin press service, according to Report.

This visit comes at the invitation of Kim Jong-un, the Chairman of State Affairs of North Korea.

Following his trip to North Korea, Putin is scheduled to visit Vietnam, where a joint statement will be adopted and several bilateral documents will be signed after the negotiations.

This will be Putin's second visit to North Korea, with his first trip taking place in July 2000 during his first term as president. At that time, he met with the previous North Korean leader, Kim Jong-il.

In a reciprocal gesture, the current North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, made an official visit to Russia on September 12-17, 2023. During this visit, Putin and Kim Jong-un toured the Vostochny Cosmodrome together.
