Pope proposes mediation in resolving crisis around Ukraine

Pope Francis has discussed with the Russian ambassador to the Vatican the possibility of mediation by the Holy See in resolving the crisis around Ukraine, Report informs referring to Interfax.

“The pontiff visited the Russian embassy in the Vatican on February 25 and met with Ambassador Alexander Avdeev in an attempt to mediate the conflict,” Argentina’s Telam agency tweeted.

The agency didn’t provide any other details of the meeting.

Earlier, the Pope called on the leaders to take political responsibility when making decisions regarding the situation around Ukraine.
