Polish Foreign Ministry sends protest note to Russia

Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a protest note to Russia following the crash of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the eastern part of the country, Report informs, citing the ministry.
According to the ministry’s statement, the Polish government accuses Russia of deliberate provocation and of violating its obligations to respect Poland’s sovereignty.
On August 20, police reported an explosion around 2:00 a.m. local time (GMT+2) in a cornfield near the village of Osiny in the Lublin Voivodeship, eastern Poland. The blast shattered windows in nearby homes, though no injuries were reported.
A representative of the regional prosecutor’s office stated that investigators have not yet identified the manufacturer or type of the UAV, which crashed approximately 100 kilometers from the Belarusian border. Nevertheless, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz claimed that the drone belonged to Russia.
