Polish, British FMs call on US to approve financial assistance to Ukraine

Foreign Ministers of Poland and the UK, Radoslaw Sikorski and David Cameron, at a joint press conference in Warsaw, called on the US House of Representatives to approve financial assistance to Ukraine, Report informs via TASS.

“I would like you to interpret this as our general call to the US House of Representatives, especially Speaker Mike Johnson personally, to bring the aid package for Ukraine to a vote. This is a landmark decision that will affect the credibility of the United States and its allies around the world. We urge that the aid package be adopted,” Radoslaw Sikorski said.

Cameron, in turn, noted the importance of ensuring that assistance to Ukraine does not dry up.

On February 13, a bill to allocate $95 billion to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, of which senators propose to give $60.06 billion to support Ukraine, received enough votes for its approval during the final vote in the US Senate. Seventy senators voted for the bill, while 29 were against it. After approval in the Senate, according to the procedure, the bill will go to the House of Representatives of the US Congress. The speaker of the lower house of the legislature, Republican Mike Johnson, previously called the Senate proposal “deliberately unpassable.”
