Poland takes over OSCE chairmanship

From the onset of the new year, Poland has assumed the chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) from Sweden.

As Report informs, from January 1, the republic will act as a coordinator in the 57-nation international organization.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the government "will do everything to take care of peace and security in this part of the world, sending appropriate signals to partners in the EU and NATO if threats are noticed."

Earlier, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau also spoke on plans to focus on resolving conflicts and crises in the OSCE territory. According to him, during the chairmanship Poland will strive to "support all efforts to ensure security and stability".

The full program of the Polish presidency will be presented in January in Vienna. As Rau assured, Poland's chairmanship intends to act comprehensively and actively, involving all OSCE institutions, missions, and all participating states in the activities.
