Philippine authority says Cessna plane with 2 onboard goes missing in north

A two-seater Cessna plane was reported missing on Tuesday hours after taking off from Laoag International Airport in Ilocos Norte province in the northern Philippines on Tuesday, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said, Report informs via Xinhua.

In an initial report, the CAAP said the Cessna 152 plane with tail number RP-C8598 took off on Tuesday morning and was supposed to land at Tuguegarao City Airport in Cagayan province at around 12:30 p.m. but failed to make it.

A pilot and a student of Indian nationality were on board the plane, according to local media.

The CAAP said the plane's itinerary was Laoag to Cauayan in Isabela province and Tuguegarao in Cagayan province. Its last position was about 60 km northwest of Alcala town in Cagayan province at an altitude of nearly 2,286 meters at around 1 p.m. local time when it lost contact, the CAAP added.

"A missionary chopper tried to conduct search and rescue Tuesday afternoon but came back due to bad weather," the CAAP said.
