Pentagon: US mulling expansion of its military presence in Greece

Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Sasha Baker met with Greek Deputy Minister of National Defense Nikolaos Chardalias today at the Pentagon to discuss defense cooperation between the United States and Greece.

Report informs, citing Pentagon, that the leaders shared perspectives on the expanding United States military presence at Souda Bay and elsewhere in Greece as a means to enhance support to the NATO Alliance, especially in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Balkans and Black Sea, and in NATO's southern flank.

Ms. Baker thanked Greece for its robust support for Ukraine. Ms. Baker encouraged further dialogue between Greece and Turkey to decrease tensions.
