Patria inks deal to manufacture F-35 engines in Finland

Finnish defense company Patria and American aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney have signed a memorandum outlining the contractual framework for projects related to the production and maintenance of Pratt & Whitney F135 engines in Finland, Report informs citing the company.

The agreement covers the assembly of engines and components from 2025 to 2030, with a subsequent transition to maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations starting from 2030. The necessary assembly and service lines will be constructed in the city of Nokia, Finland.

This development comes after Helsinki's decision to order 64 F-35 fighter jets from American company Lockheed Martin to replace the aging Boeing F/A-18C/D Hornet fleet, which is set to be decommissioned in the 2030s.
