Parliament of Ukraine approves legalization of medical cannabis

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the legalization of medical cannabis, the corresponding bill was supported in the first reading, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced on Telegram, Report informs via RBC-Ukraine.

The bill was passed with 268 votes.

It is designed to legalize the circulation of cannabis for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and technical activities. The goal is to create conditions for expanding patients' access to the treatment of cancer and post-traumatic stress disorders resulting from the war.

Limited legalization of cannabis, its resin, extracts and tinctures, as well as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the first and only cannabinoid currently approved for medical use in some countries, is envisaged.
