Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Kabul on April 19 for a one-day official visit aimed at enhancing cooperation with Afghanistan’s interim leadership, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said, Report informs via The Express Tribune.

Dar was received by senior Afghan officials upon arrival, Express News noted.

He is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes the interior secretary, railways secretary, and senior representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Board of Revenue.

During the visit, Dar is expected to meet acting Afghan Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund and other key interim officials.

Talks will include a meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, with formal negotiations taking place at the delegation level.

“The visit reflects Pakistan’s continued commitment to a stable and cooperative relationship with Afghanistan,” the ministry said.

"During the day-long visit, he will call on the Afghan Acting Prime Minister; meet Afghan Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs; and hold delegation-level talks with Acting Foreign Minister," foreign office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan earlier told reporters.

According to Khan, the meetings will cover the entire scope of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, with a focus on strengthening cooperation in security, trade, regional connectivity, and people-to-people contacts.

He described the visit as a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to sustained engagement with Afghanistan.

In response to a question, Khan said that all key issues - including concerns over terrorist safe havens - will be discussed. He confirmed that Pakistan has consistently raised the issue of sanctuaries and would continue to seek a constructive resolution.
