The fuel truck explosion in a tunnel at the Salang pass in the Afghan province of Parwan was a pre-planned terrorist attack, the Afghan newspaper Hasht e Subh said on Wednesday, Report informs via TASS.
The paper's sources, referring to the report of the Taliban Ministry of Internal Affairs, claim that the fire in the tunnel was caused by the detonation of several mines, one of which was attached to the fuel truck. According to the newspaper's sources, the explosions occurred at different times. They called what happened a terrorist attack. Meanwhile, another source told the paper that two explosions took place on Saturday, and two more on Sunday.
On Sunday, China's Xinhua News Agency, citing a spokesman for the health department of Parwan Province, informed that 19 people were killed in the explosion of a fuel truck, and 32 more were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. Hamidullah Misbah, a spokesman for the provincial public works department, told TOLO News on Sunday that the incident took place on Saturday, December 18 at around 6:30 pm local time (GMT+4:30), when the fuel truck overturned and caught fire. The fire was only contained by Sunday morning. According to Hasht e Subh, the number of victims has increased to 100, at least 120 people were injured.
