Several hundred people gathered on February 17 evening in Rome for a rally in support of peace in Ukraine, Report informs referring to Rai News 24 TV channel.
The new rally organized by the Community of Sant’Egidio took place in the square of the Holy Apostles in the center of Rome.
According to the channel, the demonstration was attended by the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, representatives of various trade unions and political parties. As indicated in the community, the rally was intended to say a resolute ‘no’ to the threat of conflict in Europe.
Catholics earlier gathered for a rally in the square in front of the Pantheon.
At the call of Pope Francis, January 26 was the day of prayer for peace in Ukraine. The Pontiff repeatedly called for a diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis in his sermons.
