NATO allies will double the number of their troops in Estonia, Minister of Defense of the Baltic Republic Kalle Laanet said, Report informs citing RIA Novosti.
“Over the next 2-3 months, NATO allies will double their presence in Estonia to provide deterrence on the eastern wing of the alliance,” Laanet said, speaking in parliament on March 1 with a report on security in connection with events around Ukraine.
The minister noted that decisions had already been made to send an additional battalion of British military personnel to Estonia, numbering about 900 people, and the first soldiers had already arrived in Estonia. “Also, additional contingents will be sent by France - 300 people and Denmark up to 250 people,” Laanet added.
