Azerbaijani President’s Special Representative for Climate Issues and COP29 President, Mukhtar Babayev, will lead the Azerbaijani delegation at the Sagarmatha Sambaad international climate summit to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, Report informs via Nepali media outlets.
Babayev, along with a five-member delegation, will visit Nepal from May 15 to 18.
During the visit, he will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the summit and will also hold meetings with Nepalese President Ram Chandra Poudel, Prime Minister Sharma Oli, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, and Minister of Forests and Environment Aain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri.
Azerbaijan's participation in the international summit was discussed by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and Nepalese Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba during the visit of the Azerbaijani government delegation to Kathmandu.
The Nepalese government will host Sagarmatha Sambaad 2025: Climate Change, Mountains and the Future of Humanity from May 16 to 18. The event will demonstrate the country's commitment to strengthening multilateral dialogue on sustainable development and combating the consequences of climate change.
