Moldova and the European Union (EU) have signed an agreement on an economic development plan that provides for the allocation of 1.9 billion euros to Chisinau by 2028, according to the Moldovan government’s press service, Report informs via Interfax.
The agreement was signed in Chisinau by Moldova's Prime Minister Dorin Recean and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
"We signed a historic investment agreement, which demonstrates that we are in the middle of Moldova's accession process to the EU and our European partners' confidence that we will succeed. Thanks to external solidarity and internal unity, we can be ready to become a member state of the European Union in 4 years, not 10 or 20," PM Recean said.
The approved development plan envisages the implementation of a reform program and attracting investments.
Under the plan, it is particularly planned to allocate resources for the restoration of local and regional roads, forests, as well as irrigation systems located along the Prut and Dniester rivers.
