Ministry: Chinese people will resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity

The Chinese people will resolutely defend their national sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said after the visit of a US delegation to Taiwan, Report informs via RIA Novosti.

On March 1, a delegation led by former chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen visited Taiwan. He was accompanied by two other defense and security officials. During the two-day visit, the US delegation met with Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen, Prime Minister Su Tseng-chang and Defense Minister Yen Teh-fa. During the visit, regional peace, stability, bilateral relations and various areas of cooperation were discussed.

The United States broke off diplomatic relations with Taiwan in 1979 and established relations with China, thus, recognizing a unified Chinese policy. Beijing considers Taiwan an integral part of China.
