"The US has transferred five Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine so far that were pledged earlier this year. Those helicopters are in the country. The US still has 11 Mi-17s still to send over from Biden's $800 million Apr.14 presidential drawdown package," Jack Detsch, National Security correspondent for Foreign Policy magazine, said on Twitter, Report informs.
A senior US Defense Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said five Soviet-era helicopters were already in Ukraine.
The delivery came months after the White House's first signal that it would send a helicopter to Ukraine and was further expanded in a recent aid package.
