Massive crowd, inadequate preparations lead to fatalities at Indian air spectacular

A celebration of the Indian Air Force's 92nd anniversary turned tragic on Sunday as at least five people died and 40 were injured due to stampedes and dehydration at an air show in Chennai, India. The incident occurred at Marina Beach, where a staggering1.2 million spectators gathered to witness spectacular aerial demonstrations along the two-kilometer stretch of coastline.

Report informs via The Indian Express that authorities and organizers were ill-prepared to handle the massive influx of people. As the event concluded, chaos erupted at the exits, resulting in a deadly stampede that claimed the lives of two to three individuals and left 40 others hospitalized with injuries.

The sweltering 36-degree heat also took its toll on the crowd, with 150 attendees requiring urgent medical attention due to severe dehydration. Tragically, some of those affected succumbed to the extreme conditions.
