The approval rating of French President Emmanuel Macron (19%) and Prime Minister Francois Bayrou (18%) has hit the lowest point in the history of the Fifth Republic, according to an IFOP/JDD poll published on Journal du Dimanche, Report informs.
The combined score of the duo is 37 points — lower than that of Francois Hollande and Manuel Valls (51 points) in 2014. Among Macron's voters, support has fallen to 49%, losing 12 points since 2022.
"Macron has made history as the first president whose rating has dropped below 20%. Even at the peak of the 'yellow vests' crisis, it was 23%," the study authors note.
Some 82% of respondents are dissatisfied with Bayrou, 50% are "extremely dissatisfied." The sharp decline was contributed to by the 2026 budget bill, which citizens considered socially unfair.
