French President Emmanuel Macron plans to host a climate change summit in Paris in June 2023, Report informs referring to the French media.
The main task of the summit is to search for new financing mechanisms that will help countries fight climate change in the run-up to the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. It should take place in the UAE in November 2023.
Earlier, the UN special envoy for financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Mahmoud Mohieldin, said that the world community needs $1 trillion to successfully counter the negative effects of climate change.
According to him, earlier it was proposed to allocate $100 billion for these purposes. But this amount is only 10% of the required. First of all, financial assistance to overcome the consequences of climate change is necessary for developing countries.
