Macron announces his intention to increase armament

French President Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to revise the military planning law for 2019-2025 in order to increase the country's armament.

Report informs citing the Le Figaro newspaper that Macron's remark came at the opening of the Eurosatory arms exhibition in the suburbs of Paris on Monday.

He explained this by the fact that against the background of the events in Ukraine, it is necessary to "adapt the means to threats."

"I have asked the Minister and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces to reassess this military programming law in the coming weeks in light of the geopolitical context," Macron said.

According to him, France "has entered the war economy, in which, I believe, we will settle down for the long term."

In early June, Macron already stated that national industrial companies should step up the production of weapons in the interests of their country.
