Liz Truss: UK energy crisis to last for several years

The energy crisis in the UK will last for several years, solving problems will require drastic measures from the government, said Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Liz Truss, who claims to be the leader of the ruling Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the country after the resignation of Boris Johnson, Report informs referring to TASS.

If people think that the problem will be solved within six months, then they are wrong. This is a long-term problem, she noted, speaking at a meeting with members of the Conservative Party in Norwich.

According to Truss, in light of the abandonment of Russian hydrocarbons, the UK needs to resume the development of new oil and gas fields in the North Sea, accelerate the pace of construction of nuclear power plants and more actively switch to renewable energy sources.

She added that if she is elected prime minister, she is ready to revive the British economy by reducing taxation and creating a more favorable environment for doing business.
