Lithuania supports deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis believes that Hungary can influence Russia to end the conflict in Ukraine peacefully, Report informs.

In an interview with ZDF TV channel, he stated: "Do you know what’s my offer to the Hungarians? They still have open channels of communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They should use the opportunities and send a message of peace. For the Russians alone," he said.

The minister answered the question about sending and deploying NATO troops to Ukraine:

"Lithuania is on France's side in terms of deployment: nothing can be left off the agenda because we are still far from victory. As for sending troops, that would mean 32 countries agreeing to be in Ukraine. I don't think it will happen."
