Lithuania approves closure of 2 checkpoints on border with Belarus

From March 1, Lithuania will close two checkpoints Raigardas and Lavoriskes on the border with Belarus, Report informs referring to local media.

Neither pedestrians nor vehicles will be able to move through these checkpoints. Also, from spring, the movement of pedestrians and cyclists through checkpoints in Medininkai and Salcininkai will be limited.

It is reported that the Lithuanian government approved the proposal of the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs to stop traffic through these checkpoints. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also advocated restricting the movement of train passengers traveling through the railway checkpoint on the border with Belarus. In addition, the ministry proposed halving the number of regular buses running across the border.
