Lavrov: Together with China, we support ASEAN's focus on strengthening its role in Asia-Pacific region

Moscow, together with Beijing, will advocate the strengthening of the ASEAN-centric mechanisms, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, Report informs referring to TASS.

On July 13, on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) events in Jakarta, Lavrov met with the head of the office of the Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi.

"We support ASEAN's focus on continuing a constructive role in the Asia-Pacific, we support ASEAN-centric mechanisms, we will work together with the [People's] Republic of China to strengthen them - we outlined all these approaches yesterday to the ASEAN chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Indonesia to Mrs. [Retno] Marsudi," Lavrov said.
