The likelihood that Finland will join NATO before Sweden has increased in recent times, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said, Report informs referring to TASS.
“It is possible that Finland and Sweden will join NATO at different stages. The likelihood that this will happen at different speeds has increased recently. We are ready for this to happen,” he said.
The prime minister also stressed that the kingdom’s entry into the alliance is only a matter of time: “The question is not whether Sweden will join, but when it will happen.”
Finland and Sweden applied to join the North Atlantic Alliance in May 2022, but Türkiye blocked the accession process, demanding that they extradite persons accused of terrorism or participation in a coup attempt in 2016.
