Khatibzadeh on talks with US: Diplomacy-war vicious circle must be broken

Iran opposes a temporary ceasefire in the conflict with the US and Israel, claiming that temporary agreements only prolong the crisis, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh told journalists on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Report informs via Turkish media.

"We do not accept any temporary ceasefire, as this vicious cycle-first diplomacy, then a return to war-must be broken," he said.

Khatibzadeh emphasized that the current negotiations with the US are aimed at achieving a lasting and final settlement.

He also addressed the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, stating that it has historically remained open by the decision of Iran. He added that Tehran views the actions of the US and Israel as a factor in escalating tensions in the region.

The diplomat added that Iran is ready for peace, provided the conflict is ended on fair terms, and its territorial integrity and sovereignty are respected.

"In this case, Iran can guarantee that the Strait of Hormuz will remain a corridor of peace and stability in the future," he emphasized.
