Kharkiv mayor: Damage from Russian attacks estimated at €10 billion

Russian military strikes have caused massive destruction in Kharkiv, with total damage to the city estimated at €10 billion, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Speaking to Report’s Eastern Europe bureau, Terekhov stated: "The damage from these attacks is roughly €10 billion. Explosions occur in our city every day, destruction happens every day. Unfortunately, there are casualties and injuries. We are facing enormous devastation. Restoring the city will require even more resources, but no amount of money can bring back the lives lost or heal those wounded.”

The mayor emphasized that civilian infrastructure is the primary target of the strikes. Citing statistics, he reported that more than 12,000 civilian facilities have been destroyed or damaged in Kharkiv over the past three years.

“Of these, 9,500 are residential buildings, leaving 160,000 Kharkiv residents without homes,” Terekhov added.
