Kazakh parliament adopts law banning entry of foreigners involved in extremism

At a plenary meeting, deputies of the lower house of the Kazakh Parliament agreed with the amendments of the upper house to the law concerning changes in the field of population migration. They provide for a ban on entry to foreigners involved in extremist and terrorist activities, Report informs referring to TASS.

The proposed changes to the legislation also introduce restrictions on entry into the republic and the acquisition of country’s citizenship by foreigners convicted of crimes against the sexual integrity of minors.

In order to prevent the acquisition of dual citizenship, a new basis is being introduced for the loss of citizenship of the republic - in the case of using a foreign passport after being granted Kazakh citizenship. The current legislation provides for registration of loss of citizenship of Kazakhstan only for the acquisition of citizenship of a foreign state.

After parliament adopts the law on amendments to legislation in the field of migration, it will be signed by the president of Kazakhstan.
