Japanese PM, US President may meet on September 20

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and US President Joe Biden are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting tentatively on September 20 in New York, where the UN General Assembly will be held, Report informs, citing Kyodo News.

According to the agency, the parties are currently working on such a possibility. The agenda of the meeting is expected to include opposition to China, the situation around Ukraine, as well as the nuclear missile program of the DPRK.

The Japanese prime minister also plans to discuss preparations for the G7 summit, which will be held in Hiroshima in May 2023 under the Japanese chairmanship.

In addition, ahead of the expected meeting in New York, Kishida and Biden may visit the UK to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Biden has already confirmed his travel plans, while the Japanese prime minister is still working on such a possibility, according to the Asahi TV channel.
