Japan to provide $34.2M in military aid to six countries

The Japanese government plans in fiscal year 2024 (ends March 31, 2025) to allocate a total of 5 billion yen (more than $34.2 million) for military assistance to six countries - Vietnam, Djibouti, Indonesia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines, Report informs referring to TASS.

In addition, these countries are also expected to receive space communications systems, radars and patrol boats, equipment for military ports.

Assistance will be allocated on preferential terms, and its amount will increase. To coordinate this activity in the Japanese Foreign Ministry, it is planned to create a special group of 10 people.

The recipient countries of Japanese aid are of great geopolitical importance for Tokyo, in particular, in terms of containing China. In addition, the stronghold of the Japanese Navy is located in Djibouti.
