Japan expresses concern over China's military activities

Japanese Defense Minister Minoru Kihara expressed grave concerns over Beijing's increased military activities in the region during talks with his Chinese counterpart, Dong Jun, at the Shangri-La Dialogue security forum in Singapore.

Report informs via Kyodo News Agency that Kihara said the two countries need to discuss "many security issues," including the territorial dispute in the East China Sea and the intensifying joint military activities by Beijing and Moscow around Japan.

Kihara also conveyed Japan's wariness regarding the escalating tensions in the South China Sea.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, Kihara called for the resolution of disputes through direct negotiations.
