Italy's dependence on Russian gas drops to 25%

Italy's dependence on Russian gas has dropped from 40% to 25%, according to Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, Report informs via Italian media.

“In just a few months, we have gone from over 40% dependence on Russian gas to just under 25%. The job is done thanks to the new partnerships we have established,” he said.

Earlier it was reported that the European Union is developing a number of emergency economic measures in the event of a sudden possible stop in gas supplies from the Russian Federation. The document is scheduled to be adopted on July 20.

Currently, the Russian side delivers to the EU less than 30% of the average from 2016 to 2021.
