IRGC: 8 soldiers killed in Israeli strike on Khomein

At least eight members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the city of Khomein in Iran's central province, Report informs, citing the official IRGC announcement.

"As a result of the attacks and destabilizing actions by the Zionist regime [Israel], six IRGC soldiers and two Basij fighters [a paramilitary force within the IRGC] who were defending Khomein were killed on the morning of June 16 while carrying out their mission to protect the Islamic Revolution and defend dear Iran," the statement, quoted by TASS, reads.

Israel launched Operation Rising Lion on the night of June 13, aimed at Iran's nuclear program. Less than a day later, the Islamic Republic carried out a retaliatory strike. In the following days, Israel and Iran continued exchanging strikes. Both sides reported casualties and injuries, acknowledged hits on several facilities, but claimed the damage was limited.
