Iran summons Swiss envoy over Israeli air strikes

The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned Swiss ambassador Nadine Olivieri Lozano, whose country represents US interests in Iran, to protest Israel's "aggression" against Iran, Report informs via Xinhua.

She was summoned by Issa Kameli, director general of the department of America at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, a few hours after Israel carried out airstrikes on a number of areas in Iran's capital Tehran and other cities, killing top military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians, the official news agency IRNA reported.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry official expressed Iran's strong protest.

He said Israel's strikes were in violation of all international standards and regulations as well as the United Nations Charter.

The Swiss envoy gave the assurance to relay Iran's protest to the US government.

In the early hours of June 13, Israel carried out the Rising Lion operation against Iran. In particular, the Israeli Air Force attacked military and nuclear facilities in Iran. As a result of the Israeli strikes, the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, the head of the IRGC, several other military commanders, as well as nuclear scientists were killed. In addition, according to Iranian sources, there were civilian casualties as well.
