Investigators interrogate Russian prison staff, inmates over deadly hostage situation

In the aftermath of a hostage crisis that claimed four lives, investigators are now questioning employees and prisoners at Penal Colony No. 19 in Russia's Volgograd Oblast.

According to Report, which cites TASS, an investigative team is currently on-site at IK-19, conducting interviews with both staff members and inmates.

One of the most pressing questions is how the inmates managed to obtain forbidden items such as flags of banned organizations, knives, scissors, mobile phones, and even components for an explosive device.

Authorities are also conducting searches to determine if any other prisoners are in possession of prohibited items.
