Indonesia: COVID-19 cases exceed 50 thousand

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has exceeded 51 thousand in Indonesia, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

According to the Health Ministry, another 1,240 have contracted COVID-19 over the past day, bringing the tally to 51,427. Yesterday 1,178 people tested positive for coronavirus. The death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands for 2,683, while 21,333 people have already recovered.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
