IDF expects influx of 'lone soldier' recruits from abroad, including Azerbaijan

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are awaiting the arrival of more than 300 recruits from abroad as part of the Jewish repatriation program from foreign countries, according to Report, which cites The Jerusalem Post.

These future soldiers are set to arrive in Israel at the end of August through the Garin Tzabar program, which facilitates the repatriation of "lone soldiers" whose parents do not reside in Israel. The program, established in 1991, has seen approximately 7,000 participants over its 33-year history, with more than 80% choosing to remain in Israel after their service.

Among the incoming recruits, a significant number come from the United States (175), Canada (24), and the United Kingdom (11). Other participants come from a diverse range of countries, including Austria, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Venezuela, Germany, Gibraltar, Mexico, Thailand, Ecuador, and South Africa.
