IAEA director again warns over Iran's nuclear facilities

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has again warned about the dangers of possible attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities.

According to Report, Grossi made the remarks at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel.

The IAEA chief said that the Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities in Natanz did not cause radiation to spread, and that radioactivity levels are currently normal. He added that no serious damage was recorded at the Fordow nuclear facility.

However, Grossi stressed that a possible attack on the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant could cause a large amount of radiation to spread, as the facility stores thousands of kilograms of nuclear material.

He also noted that the agency is ready to resume inspections of Iran as soon as the security situation is restored, in accordance with its obligations under the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (NPT):

"Maximum caution must be exercised. Military escalations not only endanger human lives, but also seriously hinder diplomatic processes aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons."
