The state of Florida is grappling with the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Debby, which has claimed six lives.
According to Report, which cites NBC, five people lost their lives due to traffic accidents and falling trees, while another man was found dead after his sailboat partially sank. The true extent of the damage caused by Hurricane Debbie will only be fully assessed in the coming weeks, as water levels in rivers gradually recede.
The impact of the hurricane has been felt far and wide, with over 158,000 people in Florida and Georgia left without electricity. In response to the crisis, the Governor of Florida has declared a state of emergency in 61 counties, mobilizing resources to aid in the recovery efforts.
