Hungarian PM criticized for his remarks about 'mixing' of races in Europe

Hungary's largest Jewish organization, Mazsihisz, has demanded a meeting with Prime Minister Viktor Orban after his remarks about "mixed-race" peoples and "EC-imposed migrants," Report informs, citing Gazeta.ru.

Speaking at the weekend in the city of Balvagnos, Orban said that migration divided Europe into two parts, and the Hungarians themselves do not want to become a "mixed race", although they are not against interactions with representatives of other nations.

“Migration divided Europe into two parts - or, one might say, split the West into two parts. One half is a world in which European and non-European peoples live together. These countries are no longer nations: they are nothing more than a conglomeration of peoples,” Orban said.

The politician's remarks sparked criticism not only from the Jewish community of Hungary. Former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany called Orban a "tragedy" for the country, seeing racist overtones in his remarks.
