Houthis attack two cargo ships in Gulf of Aden

In a recent escalation of tensions in the region, Yemeni Houthi rebels from the insurgent group "Ansar Allah" have launched missile attacks on two cargo ships in the Gulf of Aden within a 24-hour period, Report informs citing the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

The targeted vessels, a Swiss-owned container ship Tavvishi sailing under the Liberian flag and a German general cargo ship Norderney registered in Antigua and Barbuda, sustained damage but were able to continue their journeys. The Tavvishi was struck by an anti-ship ballistic missile, while the Norderney faced a dual threat, being targeted by both a ballistic and a cruise missile.</p>

US military forces intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle over the Gulf of Aden and destroyed two cruise missiles along with a missile launcher in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
