Head of New Initiative for Development of Mali: Africa must be independent

Africa must be independent, Khalil Sarmoye Cisse, president of NIDEM (New Initiative for the Development of Mali), said at the Africa Day conference “Strengthening Africa and Promoting Multilateralism in the Age of Global Challenges: the Role of the Non-Aligned Movement,” Report informs.

He stated that the process of colonization in Africa is still ongoing, the countries of the West dictate their own rules and promote domination under the guise of democracy.

“Africa has fertile lands, but for some reason we are always waiting for food from other countries. With the resources that we have, we can feed not only ourselves, but also other countries. But colonization, corruption and Western imperialism spoil our lives and stop development,” he said.

According to him, Africa is the second largest and second most populous continent.

“However, the continent remains very poor due to slavery, colonialism, the Cold War, neo-colonialism and globalization,” the speaker said.

Cisse also called on African countries to develop cooperation.
