Hamas attacks Israeli soldiers escorting UN humanitarian convoy

Militants from the Palestinian Hamas movement launched a mortar attack on Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers who were escorting a United Nations humanitarian convoy.

According to Report, which cites the Times of Israel, the attack took place as the convoy, operated by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), was moving through a designated humanitarian route. The IDF soldiers were providing security for the mission when Hamas militants fired upon them, endangering both military personnel and civilian aid workers.

An IDF spokesperson stated, "During coordinated humanitarian activities, the terrorist organization Hamas fired a projectile at the humanitarian route in close proximity to the UNICEF convoy and IDF soldiers guarding the area."
