Haaretz: Israel creates buffer zone on border with Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces are establishing a security buffer zone on the border with the Gaza Strip, which may occupy approximately 16% of the enclave's territory, Report informs with the reference to Haaretz Newspaper.

The newspaper stated that the width of the mentioned buffer zone along the border will be about 1 km. In the analysis of the satellite images cited by the publication, it was noted that all the buildings in this zone will be destroyed.

Thus, Israel plans to divide the Gaza sector into two parts - north and south. In this regard, Israeli forces establish another special buffer zone - the so-called Netzarim Corridor, which crosses the sector from west to east and allows to control the movement of the population.

At this time, taking into account the creation of a buffer zone along the border, the width of the Gaza Strip will be only 5.5 km.
