Germany to spend 15 billion euros on modernization of Bundeswehr

Germany has begun to modernize the Bundeswehr, with the total amount of large-scale weapons projects at 15 billion euros, German radio station Deutschland Funk said in a statement.
Report informs via foreign media that most of this amount is likely to be spent on the first tranche of the planned acquisition of the American F-35 fighter, with additional funds to be used for the purchase of new assault rifles.
The funds come from a special fund of 100 billion euros, which the federal government has created for the modernization of the aircraft.
