The German Bundestag voted to toughen the punishment of the deputies found guilty of corruption, Report informs, citing Deutsche Welle.
The relevant decision was adopted by the votes of the parties included in the government coalition, as well as the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany (AfD).
The Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union factions abstained from the vote because they considered some statements too vague.
The new norm applies to members of the Landtags and the European Parliament, as well as members of the parliamentary assemblies of international organizations.
